We have made some improvements to the functionality of our updated Project Blog and have added the ability to reorder the blog comment display (bottom to top or top to bottom) and the ability to “pin” project-related comments. ###### **PROJECTS WITHOUT TIME REPORT | 2026-02-03**
We have added a new report under Reports > My Reports called **Projects Without Time**. This will allow you to report on open projects with no time tracked within a selected date range.
###### **CUSTOM FIELD ENHANCEMENTS | 2026-02-02**

We have updated the projects table on the Projects > Manage page to include columns for your [Custom Field](https://functionfox.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/GS/pages/39325243) data. These columns can be shown/hidden by clicking on the table settings (3 bars) at the top right of the table.
###### **RUNNING TIMER UPDATE | 2025-11-05**
When using the timer to track time, you'll now be able to see how much actual time has elapsed while the timer is running.

###### **COPY RATE CATEGORIES | 2025-10-23**
We have added the ability to **copy Rate Categories** on the Projects > Tasks page. This will allow you to use the same set of Tasks across multiple Rate Categories, without having to build each Rate Category from scratch.
###### **ACTION ASSIGNMENT PAGE UPDATES | 2025-07-21**
We have updated the Actions table on the Traffic > Action Assignment page. We have added an Actual Hours column, and total hours at the bottom of both the Estimated Hours and Actual Hours columns.
###### **NOTIFICATIONS ALERTS MODAL: ARCHIVE ALL | 2025-07-21**
We have updated the Notifications modal for In-App alerts and added the option to **Archive All**. This will archive all alerts within the modal, rather than having to archive them one by one.
###### **NEW ADD PROJECT MODAL | 2025-06-23**
As part of our ongoing efforts to standardize our pages, we have added an **Add Project** modal to the Projects > Manage page to simplify adding your Projects to FunctionFox. We have also made it easier for you to view and de-archive your Projects using the new Project State filter. ###### **NEW ADD PERSONNEL MODAL | 2025-06-03**
As part of our ongoing efforts to standardize our pages, we have added an Add Personnel modal to the Personnel > Manage page to simplify adding your users to FunctionFox. We have also made it easier for you to view and de-archive your users using the new Personnel State filter. ###### **NEW ADD CLIENT MODAL | 2025-05-27**
As part of our ongoing efforts to standardize our pages, we have added an Add Clients modal to the Clients > Manage page to simplify adding your Clients to FunctionFox. We have also made it easier for you to view and de-archive your Clients using the new Client Status filter. ###### **PROJECTS > MANAGE PAGE UPDATE | 2025-05-13**
We have updated the Projects > Manage page to include a column in the projects table for **Expenses**. In the Expenses column you will be able to see the number of Expenses associated with the Project as well as add new Expenses and view existing Expenses by clicking on the Expense icon to open the modal. This column can be shown/hidden by clicking on the table settings (3 bars) at the top right.

We have updated the Project Status page to include a column for the **Project Scope** and have added a column for **Expenses**. We have made some improvements to the Traffic > Gantt Charts page in order to improve the printability of the Gantt Charts.
###### **FUNCTIONFOX RESOURCE CENTER | 2025-01-23**
Introducing the** FunctionFox Resource Center!** Click on the help icon at the top right of your FunctionFox window to access our knowledge base, help files, user guides and more! Look under Contact Us for the option to email Customer Support or the Billing Department, as well as sign up for 1-1 training sessions.
###### **TO-DO LIST EST. VS ACTUAL COMPARISON | 2025-01-22**
We have added a comparison graph to the To-Do List that compares the estimated hours vs. actual hours tracked for each Action listed. This can be turned off/on under the To-Do List table settings (Premier & In-House subscriptions only).
###### **FUNCTIONFOX PRODUCT ENHANCEMENTS | 2025-01-22**
- We have added the Transfer Actions and Transfer Assignees tools to the Tips/Links on the Project Schedule and Action Assignment pages
- We have added a Retainers column to the project table on both the Projects > Manage and Projects > Project Status pages, so that you can see at a glance which projects are included in your Retainers. This can be turned on/off under the table settings.
- We have added the ability to archive closed projects from the project table on the Projects > Project Status page. Look for this setting under the table settings.
###### **CLIENTS PAGE UPDATE | 2025-01-15**
We have updated the Clients > Manage page to make it easier for you to add your Client Contact information. Look for the Contacts icon to add this information without leaving the page. We have also added the ability to upload Files and add Comments against Clients. (Comments are available with our [updated Project Blog](https://functionfox.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/GS/pages/39325065) which is part of our FunctionFox Premier and In-House platforms)
###### **EXPENSES MODAL ON THE PROJECT ESTIMATE PAGE | 2025-01-15**
We have updated the Project Estimates page to streamline adding your Expenses. With the new Expenses modal, quickly add this information without having to leave the page.
###### **FLINK FILE PREVIEW & LINK ENHANCEMENTS | 2024-11-06**
We've added Flink image file previews to additional pages, and have made it easier to add clickable links to note fields (Action Note, Timesheet Description, etc.)
###### **CEO DESKTOP: CAMPAIGNS | 2024-10-31**
Following our recent CEO Desktop update, we have added a **Campaigns tab** to the CEO Desktop, for better visibility and tracking of Campaign budgets (Premier & In-House subscriptions only). [Click here](https://functionfox.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/GS/pages/41058349) to learn more about Campaigns.
###### **WEEK START DAY CUSTOMIZATION | 2024-10-17**
Not all companies follow a Sunday to Saturday work week, so we have added the option to customize your account's** week start day**. The week start day is an account-wide setting that affects all date pickers, date ranges on reports, calendars, timesheets and the Availability page. To set your week start day, go to Settings & Preferences > Account Preferences > Format.

###### **RENAMING OF PROJECT MANAGER AND CAMPAIGNS | 2024-08-01**
We have added the option to **rename** Project Manager in FunctionFox. We have also added the option to rename the Campaigns tool (Premier & In-House Subscriptions only). This can be done by going to Settings & Preferences > Account Preferences > Naming.
###### **FINANCIAL TERMINOLOGY CHANGES / CEO DESKTOP IMPROVEMENTS | 2024-08-01**
We have made some changes to align our terminology with industry standards and best practices, ensuring that our financial reporting remains clear and intuitive for all users. Along with that, we have updated the **[CEO Desktop](https://functionfox.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/GS/pages/39323673)** and **[Project Estimate](https://functionfox.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/GS/pages/39323162)** page, so you can better see project budget spend by hours, fees, expenses and personnel cost rates.
Going forward, we will be using these terms throughout FunctionFox to describe all financial sums and budgets:
**Expenses:** Outside resources incurred for the project.
**Tasks:** Services provided by your company.
**Costs: **What your company pays for tasks and/or expenses.
**Fees: **The billable value of tasks and/or expenses.
**Estimated: **Expected amounts related to tasks and/or expenses.
**Actual:** Real amounts related to tracked time and/or expenses.
Other Notable Changes:
- Project Costs have been renamed to **[Expenses](https://functionfox.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/GS/pages/39323274)** (Projects > Expenses).
- The Personnel Rate Report is now the **[Personnel Cost Rate Report](https://functionfox.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/GS/pages/55345155)** (Reports > Personnel Cost Rate).
- **Markups** will now apply to both the Estimated Expense Cost and the Actual Expense Cost
- **Project Fees** refer to the billable value inclusive of both time and expenses
- Financial terminology has been updated across all applicable **reports**.
###### **FUNCTIONFOX IDEA PORTAL | 2024-06-27**
We have added a link in all FunctionFox accounts to our **Idea Portal**. Share your thoughts on new ideas and improvements and vote on the ideas that you like best! Submissions go directly to our Product Team for consideration and help us plan a roadmap that really resonates with what our customers need. Access the Idea Portal within the FunctionFox Resource Center by clicking on the Help icon at the top right of your FunctionFox window.
###### **CAMPAIGNS | 2024-06-25**
We have developed a new feature, **Campaigns**, which allows you to track the total estimated project fee for multiple projects under a single client against a set overall Campaign budget (Premier & In-House subscriptions only). ###### **TASK RATE CATEGORIES | 2024-06-10**
We have introduced a way to create **Task Rate Categories**. This will allow you to create groupings of specific Tasks and rates (e.g. House Rate, Rush Rate, Non-Profit Rate, etc.) that you can use to apply to Clients and Projects as needed. ###### **AVAILABILITY PAGE: ACTION STATUS FILTER | 2024-04-10**
We have added an Action Status filter to the available menus on the **Traffic > Availability **page, giving you the option to filter on or filter out actions in specific To-Do or In Progress status types (Premier & In-House subscriptions only).
###### **USER GROUPS RENAMED | 2024-04-10**
User Groups are now called **Restricted Access Groups**, to better reflect the functionality of this tool.
###### **MY REPORT UPDATES | 2024-04-10**
At the top of the **Reports > My Reports** page, use the 'Set Favorites as Report Menu' toggle to replace the standard report listing under Reports in the left menu with your favorite reports. Users may have up to 20 favorite reports listed in the left menu.
You can now transfer the ownership of shared reports. Users with access to the Access Levels page can click the Save Report icon and select Update Report Owner to transfer the ownership of any shared report. [Learn More](https://functionfox.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/GS/pages/39323888).
###### **RECURRING ACTIONS | 2024-03-25**

###### **FLINK FILE EXCHANGE | 2024-03-18**

###### **IN-APP NOTIFICATIONS | 2024-03-05**
We have added In-App Notifications to all FunctionFox accounts as an alternative to email alerts. You will receive real-time alerts within FunctionFox, which can be accessed by clicking on the bell icon in the upper right-hand corner. ###### **ADVANCED TIMESHEET MANAGEMENT | 2024-03-04**
We have added the ability to better manage and enter your timesheets, including:
- **Transfer Timesheets** to transfer multiple timesheets quickly
- **Batch Timesheets** to enter multiple timesheet entries at once
- **Approve Timesheets **to lock the timesheet entry
- **Lock Projects **to lock timesheet entry on a project prior to your selected date

###### **ARCHIVING CUSTOM FIELDS | 2023-11-17**
For In-House accounts with unlimited Custom Fields, we have added the ability to archive Custom Fields that you no longer wish to use. Archived Custom Fields will not show on the Projects > Manage page or on Request Forms but can still be included on reports. To archive or de-archive Custom Fields, go to **Settings & Preferences > Account Preferences > Custom Fields **(In-House subscriptions only).
###### **DESKTOP NOTIFICATIONS | 2023-11-15**
We have added a setting to allow FunctionFox desktop notifications. To activate this, click on the Settings & Preferences gear at the top right, and then the My Preferences tab. Scroll down to the Notifications section, and check off the 'Send Desktop Notifications' option.
###### **MARK AS UNAVAILABLE ON AVAILABILITY PAGE | 2023-10-12**
We have added the ability to **Mark as Unavailable **on the [Availability](https://functionfox.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/GS/pages/39324833) page. Double click on a specific day to mark a user as unavailable. The availability tool will automatically re-distribute estimated action hours to the available days they are assigned for. Double click again to mark them as available (Premier & In-House subscriptions only).
###### **NEW STATUS BOARD & TO-DO BOARD VIEWS | 2023-10-04**
The [Status](https://functionfox.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/GS/pages/39323424) & [To-Do Board](https://functionfox.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/GS/pages/39324786) views are an extension to the Project Status and To-Do List pages within your FunctionFox account, giving you the flexibility to manage projects & assignments in a view that suits your workflow.
###### **MANDATORY PROJECT FIELDS | 2023-09-29**
We have added the ability to mark fields as mandatory on the Projects > Manage page. To access this setting, click on the Settings & Preferences gear at the top right of your FunctionFox window, and then click on the Account Preferences tab. Scroll down to the Other section, and choose the mandatory fields from the 'Mandatory Fields When Adding Projects' drop-down menu.
###### **MANDATORY TIMESHEET DESCRIPTIONS | 2023-09-27**
We have added the ability to make the Description field on the Timesheet mandatory, so users cannot add or edit an entry without putting something in the Description field first. You can activate this setting by clicking on the Settings & Preferences gear icon at the top right, and then clicking on the Account Preferences tab. Under the Timesheet section, check off 'Require Timesheet Description'. This setting is account-wide, for all users
###### **COMPANY LOGOS & COLOR THEMES | 2023-09-19**
We have added company logos to the left menu as well as the ability to customize the color theme within your account. To upload your logo and customize the theme, go to the Settings & Preferences gear at the top right of your FunctionFox window, and then click on the** Logo & Themes** tab.
###### **FUNCTIONFOX UPDATED PROJECT BLOG & COMMENTS | 2023-09-19**
We have updated our Project Blog with a cleaner design and have added the ability to comment directly against Actions, Meetings and Milestones, as well as Projects. ###### **PROJECT ESTIMATE ALERT UPDATE | 2023-09-06**
We have added an Estimate Notifications drop-down menu to the Project Estimate page so that you can select multiple users to receive this alert. Project Managers will still receive the estimate alerts based on their personal alert settings.
###### **PROJECT RETAINER ALERT UPDATE | 2023-09-06**
We have added a Retainer Notifications drop-down menu to the Project Retainer page so that you can select multiple users to receive this alert. Retainer Managers will still receive the retainer alerts based on their personal alert settings.
###### **FUNCTIONFOX ALERTS: NEW ACTION NOTIFICATION | 2023-06-21**
We have added a notification that will notify you when an action that you have assigned is completed. You can activate this by going to **Settings and Preferences > My Preferences > Notifications > To-Do & Action Notifications**.
###### **FUNCTIONFOX ALERTS: NEW INVOICING NOTIFICATION | 2023-04-24**
We have added a notification that will notify you when an unpaid invoice that you created is due. This alert will be sent out the night before the invoice due date. You can activate this by going to **Settings and Preferences > My Preferences > Notifications > General Notifications**.
###### **FUNCTIONFOX ALERTS: NEW ACTION NOTIFICATION | 2023-04-24**
We have added a notification that will notify you when an action assigned to you is overdue. This notification will be sent out one day after the Action due date has been reached. You can activate this by going to **Settings and Preferences > My Preferences > Notifications > To-Do & Action Notifications**.
